Accessibility

Last updated 11 October 2026.

We want everyone to be able to use this website, with a keyboard, a screen reader, a phone, a magnifier or a slow connection. This statement says what is built in, what we checked, what we have not checked, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.

1. What we aim for

We build this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard of the World Wide Web Consortium. This is a statement of how we work. It is not a declaration that the website conforms in every respect: section 4 says what we have not checked.

2. What is built in

  • Structure. Every page has one main heading, headings in order and named landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer), and its language is declared. A skip link at the top of every page jumps to the content.
  • Keyboard. Everything works without a mouse. The menus open with Enter or Space, close with Escape and give focus back to the button, and every link, button and field shows a clear focus outline. On a phone the open menu keeps focus inside it.
  • Colour and contrast. Text is at least 4.5 to 1 against its background, including over the films, and the borders of form fields are at least 3 to 1. Colour is never the only sign of a link.
  • Size and layout. Running text is 17 pixels or larger and no text is smaller than 14 pixels. Pages reflow to one column on a narrow screen, and you can zoom and resize text without losing content.
  • Motion. Headings rise into place when a page loads, and nothing flashes. The picture of the sea at the top of the home page is animated, and so are the short films on some pages: they are silent loops that play only while they are on screen, and each has a visible pause button. When your system asks for reduced motion or reduced data use, nothing moves: you see still pictures, and a film starts only if you press its play button.
  • Forms. Every field has a visible label, the contact form can be completed by keyboard, and the result of sending it is announced and given focus.
  • Images. Pictures that carry meaning have a text description; decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology. The drawn sea and the films are decorative: the text beside them says everything they show. Links that open another site in a new tab say so.
  • No third parties. The site loads nothing from other websites, so no outside widget can break the page for you.

3. What we checked

On 11 October 2026 we checked the finished pages:

  • every page against automated accessibility rules, with no violations;
  • the skip link, the desktop menus and the phone menu by keyboard, which all passed;
  • the layout from 320 to 1920 pixels wide, with no sideways scrolling and nothing cut off;
  • every text and background colour pair, against the WCAG contrast formula;
  • the animated picture and the films: they start by themselves only after the page has loaded, stop with their pause button and while they are off screen, shift nothing on the page, and do not move at all when reduced motion is on.

We repeat these checks whenever a page or a component changes, and this date changes with them.

4. What we have not checked

  • No independent audit. The checks above were made by us. Automated rules find only part of the problems that exist, and an expert audit has not been commissioned.
  • No hand test with screen readers. We built to the roles, names and states that screen readers use, but a person has not yet tested the site with NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver or TalkBack, and we do not claim it works well with each.
  • The films. They are silent and carry no captions or audio description, because they carry no information that the text beside them does not give. If a film is in your way, its pause button stops it.
  • The ANPC pictograms. The two consumer-complaints pictograms in the footer are ANPC’s own pictures, unaltered, each with a text description added. We cannot change the pictures themselves.
  • Other websites. The pages of Cloudverest, Pactroom, the games and the stores we link to are built and run elsewhere and have their own accessibility.
  • Language. The website is in English only.

5. Tell us about a problem

If something on this website does not work for you, or you need information in another format, write to contact@ritsea.com or use the contact form. It helps if you tell us the page, what you were trying to do, what happened, and the browser and assistive technology you use. We read every message, and we fix what we can, starting with what stops you from doing something.
